What does the word “Spirit” mean to you?

What is the first thing you think of when you see this word?

Sometimes I just get curious about a word, its meaning and how it affects me…

Definition:

1. The non physical part of a person which is the seat of emotions and character; the soul.

2. Those qualities regarded as forming the definitive or typical elements in the character of a person, nation, or group or in the thoughts and attitudes of a particular period.

Origin:

A Latin version “spirare” means “Breathe”, also “spiritus” means “breath, spirit”.

The use of this word was widely popular in the 1800s but declined rapidly at the turn of the 20th century.

Heres my take on the word “spirit” and the above information.

The word “spirit” means “my essence or soul” and the first thing I think of is a ghost.

Having read the definition, synonyms and various other information, I think we all need to breathe more.
