2019 Vacay with the Harley (Part 1 of 2)

First, I am not being compensated in anyway. These are my experiences and my opinions only.

Now, let me share…This is 1 of 2 posts on our vacay this year.We started out June 21 from Florida headed to Boston area.

We stopped twice on the way up. Those stops were memorable only because the Super 8 motel’s were cheap but let me tell you, they were sketchy as hell! In this case BELIEVE the online reviews. Ok, that’s all I am going to say about that, rest assured, NEVER AGAIN!

Here are a few pics of a beautiful rest area we stopped in.

Here is my car project I finished on the first day, I’ll definitely make a couple more of these.

At one of our stops, we went to this little place by the hotel, the caveman wanted a cheesesteak hoagie. So he saw a picture of this and thought if it’s close to the picture it’ll be good. I can tell you it looked exactly like the picture and he said it was great! It was cheese, steak, shrimp and chicken…yum!

I haven’t been this far north in a very long time. I was able to snap some pictures along the highway, that honestly doesn’t do the scenery justice. In some you’ll notice vehicles or motorcycles but look in the background. I am also always drawn to rocks and there are plenty of those to see sticking out of the mountainsides.

As I anticipate getting to Boston, I can’t stop thinking about the Revolutionary war. What it must have been like to live during that time. The only modes of transportation were by horse or by your own two feet. When I look out at scenery like this, I think about the people that walked or rode a horse around these mountains and hillsides looking for a better existence.

I also give props to the surveyors that plotted these roads from way back then to modern times, what adventurous souls they must have been.

We Made It!!!

Now for a train ride into Boston!

As I take pictures around Boston, I can’t help but to switch back and forth between color snaps and Black and white because old places just look better.

We hit 3 historical places: The Bell in Hand and the Green Dragon. These 2 in particular were places that Freedom strategies were discussed…total goosebumps!

And the 3rd… well…

We also walked around Boston Commons Park. What an amazing green space and let me tell you the people watching did not disappoint.

One of our guided motorcycle rides went to Minute Man National Historic Park. What, an amazing experience, we only wish we had more time to explore; future trip for sure. Brush up on your History…

To say I took many pictures is an understatement! Please let me know if you’d like to see more. This place is beyond special….We then drove a few more mile’s to the visitors center…

Then we went to the historic town of Lexington for lunch…

A few of us had a few hours to burn so we took a ride to Salem!!! Definitely would like to explore this place further!

I had to buy a new Hat and Broom!!!

Stay tuned for our next leg, going to Washington DC (for the first time ever!) for 4th of July!!!

Hot Off the Hook – Car Project – Giant Soap Sack

Hi There!!! So we just started our summer vacay with the Harley’s! More on that later…

I packed alot! But there was something bothering me about all those charging cables, apparently I am the designated keeper of them.

This morning before the alarm went off at 04:30am, I woke up thinking about a giant soap sack! Lol

So after some coffee and surfing the internet, I dug around in my stash for some cotton yarn. I hurriedly threw it in my bag O’projects for the car and off we went.

It is approximately 10 ” x 7″

Hot Off the Hook – June 2019

Woo!!! What, a month!!! The hand surgery I had in May put me out of commission until about a week ago, but I did manage to finish a few things. One in particular is another special one that they have no idea is coming.

So its 40″ x 41″, done with 16 skeins (4oz each) of “Spartans” yarn by Lion Brand and weighs roughly 6 lbs. It started as another Study of Texture from Mikey at the Crochet Crowd. I had to skip some rows because I was running out of yarn, yep even after 16 skeins!

Here are a couple lap blankie I got done before surgery. Patterns were video tutorials by Bonnie Bay Crochet.

So what have you got on your hook?

Here’s my current WIP, that I’ll take on vacay with us…its another video tutorial by Bonnie Bay Crochet.

Hot Off the Hook – May 2019

Hi there Happy Hookers❣️

This particular project has been very near and dear to my heart. It’s a special gift for a special person in my life.

Its been a really long time since I’ve done a personal project. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve done dozens of baby blankies and the like for my grandbabies, niece’s and nephews.

I belong to a crochet group and we do alot of lap blankets, baby hats and any number of items for our local charity groups. We all spend alot of time working our hooks like it’s a job and often times I forget just how much fun it is to crochet.

Until, I started this project…it’s called “A Study of Texture” by Mikey at the Crochet Crowd (Yarnspirations), this guy has magic fingers!

Anyways, what got me about this project was it requires you to slow your roll a bit. Not snail slow but just enough, it made me realize I really needed to smell the roses for a little bit. Needless to say, I highly recommend this project!

Just a little about the yarn. I used Caron jumbo (Shady Lane) and Loops & Threads Endless Impeccable (Butterscotch).

So tomorrow, I’ll send this to one of my most favorite people, and she has no idea it’s coming. 🤞🌼

Hot Off the Hook – April 2019

I have to say I wasn’t to crazy about these colors, but the bigger it got the more I liked it. After all, my favorite season is the fall. I think its one of those times like when you try on a blouse and realize that it definitely looked better on you, then on the hanger.

I used 3 skeins, called pumpkin spice by Caron Cakes. Trying to bust my stash…and this was my first try at a 10 point star, I’ll definately do it again just maybe not so big.

1 Skein 33″

2 skeins 46″

3 skeins 56″

Hot Off the Hook – March 2019

I have just started my 6th crochet project! What, a busy month! I have found that when my anxiety is up, I crochet ALOT!

I am really into a particular designer for crochet, Bonnie Barker of Bonnie Bay Crochet. I never thought I would attempt her designs because they look so difficult. Guess what? They aren’t! Who knew! Lol if you know the 3 basic stitches (SC, DC, TDC) then you can do it. Beleive me, of I can do it, YOU CAN TOO!

Show me what you are working on…

Heres some pictures…

Charity project, lap blankie

Celtic knot baby blanket, red Big Bro blankie and Hot Pink Big Sister blankie.

Tulip stitch baby blanket with hat and little crowb headband for a premie that spent 4 months in hospital.

Happy Hooking my Friends❣

Camera Clicks- 2019 March 20 Super Moon

So I rushed home from a meeting to get set up for this Photo Shoot (lol trying to sound fancy) and what happens? Clouds, clouds happen, Lots and lots of Clouds.

So I set my camera settings for what worked last time and guess what? They didnt work this time. So I learned something today YAY ME! Insert a little sarcasm here…

So, i just started changing settings, I literally took 200 pictures, until i found what worked! Persistence Pays Off!

So When my alarm went off at 0430, I knew the moon would be out front of our house so i went to take a look, CLEAR SKIES!!! So i grab the tripod and camera and start snapping, yep in my PJs and BEFORE coffee! Good thing there weren’t any shady characters around, me before coffee would put them right back on the straight and narrow 🤣🤣🤣

After coffee and one to go for the drive to work, I snapped a few more! Yep, along with my camera I also travel with my current crochet projects! And Coffee, never forget that❣☕📸 Bag Lady Much 🛍

Last Adventure of 2018

Well I’ve found another fun thing to do, can you imagine? If you’ve read my last post about Rose from “Titanic” you’ll understand that I have many interests.

So I’ve been a big fan of Ansel Adams, who is a famous photographer and for Christmas i received a pretty fancy camera. Pictures to follow…

But first, this is the first installment of this adventure which started early the friday morning after Christmas. We headed to the airport a bit later than origannally planned. We ended up taking a tour of long term parking (The Hubs was driving) only to end up in short term parking. 😁 Then we took the new tram from the parking area which took us to the right place. But we needed to check our bags which meant we needed to go down stairs (anxiety is starting to mount, we are not late but…), there was a Disney sized conga line so we hightailed it outside to curb service to check our bags. Of course this is where we realized we should have dropped our bags first lol before taking the tour of the airport parking areas. Lol so, we made it to our gate after getting gropped…flight takes off at 6am then we had a little layover and made our final destination by 1pm.

So we are in Western Michigan and there is snow on the ground. Suddenly i am a kid again, i havent seen snow since 1980…so we headed to a craftbrewery for some libations.  Now if you’ve followed my Harley Vacay posts you know this is the usual for us, but this is the first time we’ve come in winter. I am loving it! Even though this girl has about 8 layers on, which isnt fun when you have a hot flash! Let me tell you, having a hot flash while wearing this many layers gives you a real honest to God incite on a Turkey in a basting bag at Thanksgiving! 🤣🤣🤣

In a 3 day period i have taken over 500 pictures with my new camera and i am in Love with the Night Vision setting. Please let me know what you think, heck maybe you have some suggestions….I have a crochet project to work on now.

I hope you all have had a Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year to come❣

What does it mean to me?

Morning everyone! So i read a post that has been stuck in my brain for a few days.  It askes “what is your blog really about?” And “How much time did you spend on you About page?” (Here is the original post: https://wp.me/p5oeKw-4c )

So, i went back and read my “About” page. I think i did a pretty good job explaining why i started this blog and my interrests. But I’d like to add this visual, if you will.

Have you seen the “Titanic” movie? If so, you’ll know what i mean when i say, Rose and Jack inspired me. You see, in the movie Jack encourages Rose to “Do” all those things she is curious about. In the begining of the movie Rose is 100+ years old and the story is told by her. What i noticed was she DID all those things she and Jack talked about.

So back to this blog.  Of course i want this blog to be successful and if you read up on how to do that, most advice says to pick one subject. I tried that, but in short i just didnt like that.  I have many interrests, like Rose, and i want to talk about all of them. I did identify a particular interrest that not much is written about but that doesn’t get many readers.

So what I’ve learned thus far is the common denominator in all my interrests is Me. My passion, experiences and thoughts. I love Books, riding my motorcycle, crocheting, our grandchildren, shopping and a host of other things.

I am totally open to suggestions and would love to hear your thoughts.

Our Lovie

So our granddaughter is 3 weeks old❣ WHAT, an amazing journey, so far. We are all twisting in the wind over this little being. I have seen so many amazing transformations in all of us, its been, well AMAZING❣😁

I love coming up with nicknames for the kids in my life. I have a Mooshka, who has the mooshiest cheeks, a Lizzy because she was always sticking her tongue out, a Ms. Thing because she was always in to something, a Princess PJ because she rules mightily, a monkey because he is all boy and i could keep going….but Lovie, now that one just struck me. I made a few “lovies”  while we were waiting for her arrival. And as these last few weeks have flown by she became our little security blankie.  We are all just so attached to her already. 💞

If you can envision a human pyramid with this little one being on the top with all the rest of the family holding each other (and her) up, this kid has one hell of a posse!

We are so incredibly humbled that all of her family members on bothsides, not only get along but truly are her village. To help make her one of the next generations greatest citizens, whatever her path.

Our Lovie❣
