You know I love the moon.
Tonight is the Last Full Moon for 2019.
These are from the parking lot at my office, I can only imagine the person that reviews the security footage. 😂🤣 they may see me (at 0630am on 12/12) sitting or kneeling on the ground or leaning on my car…📸💙🌝
And here is another person my 30 year old friend didn’t know…
So let’s start with this, have you ever watched (or read the book) “The Last of the Mohicans”?
This is one of my top 5 movies EVER! The main character is based loosely on Daniel Boone. Oh, Daniel Day-Lewis be still my heart! “Stay Alive! I Will Find You!”
There is alot of fact and legend surrounding DBs life. You can read more HERE about his very adventurous life.
For me, just reading about him makes me want to learn more about North Carolina, Kentucke (original spelling before it became Kentucky), Virginia, West Virginia and Missouri.
Funny how educating yourself leads to more knowledge.
Who else might you want to know about? Or is there a place you are curious about? Let me know in the comments and I’ll see about it.
What prompted this topic was a discussion with a 30 year old…
Not only did they not know a pickle was a cucumber, they had no clue who Benjamin Franklin was and why he was so important to the creation of America. 🇺🇲
This person thought he was a President because he was on the $100 bill. 🤯
Here is a link that will help inform or educate you on Who Ben Franklin was and how he became a key negotiator in our becoming The United States of America.
Over the summer we went to Washington DC and I picked up a little book of quotes by Ben Franklin.
Here are a few famous quotes:
“A Penny Saved is a Penny Earned“
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.“
“In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is Freedom, in water there is bacteria.“
“Hide not your talents, they for use were made, What’s a sundial in the shade?“
My Hubs got me a speed light (Nikon SB-300) for my birthday. I was so excited even though I had no idea how to use it correctly. So off to YouTube I went. I watched a few different videos by a few different channels like: Sean Tucker, Tony and Chelsea; The Photography Academy and etc.
THIS just upped my Love for photography❣📸😁
It’s amazing to have the ability to warm up a scene by just redirecting some light.
Before the speed light:
I love the pictures above but here’s some with the speed light at different angles.
Peace, what does that mean to you?
Inner peace or peace with others…
For me, inner peace means letting go of what or who, you can not control. We are all control freaks at times because we get caught up in the image we hold in our minds. Sometimes the Universe has a better idea.
Ever push so hard for something and it just doesn’t work out, then you are highly disappointed? Yeah, that’s the universe saying “let it go Elsa” this is the way it needs to be.
Peace with others, this one is a bit harder. You have to be willing to accept people for the way they are, not how you think they should be. Think about that for a minute…
Ultimately, it is NOT your job to make people see the error of their ways. You do not have to be around toxic people but you also can’t carry that baggage around either; put it down, cut that nerve. When and if they are ready, they’ll see it for what it is. Hopefully it wont be too late.
Show your children how to be the better person. Show them how to have inner peace and how to NOT carry others baggage.
Be the better person.
Put your feet up, enjoy the moment.
I hope you can absorb the good vibes and repell the negative.
Life is short; make it count my friends❣
I was reading up on Advent and what I was reminded of is the 4 weeks have a separate theme.
This week is Hope or Promise.
What is Hope?
Here is a definition:
“Hope is an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one’s life or the world at large.”
I like to try to be optimistic about everything. Like giving people the benefit of doubt instead of believing everything you hear or sometimes see. There’s ALWAYS more to a story…
To me being an optimist means, there’s options. Who doesn’t like options?
I think having hope is a promise for positivity.
I know it should go without saying, but, Be Nice! Be Sweet! Be Kind to others!
On a whim I looked on Google Trends for “Advent Kindness”, want to know what it said?
In a period of 12 months, Kindness is dead! Literally there’s more action on an EKG of someone on life support than on this bar graph.
I went back and just searched for the word “kindness”, ok this bar graph looks like someone ON life support. This graph shows a major peak in November. But did a complete nose dive after November 10th, but it’s on the upswing as of today.
Maybe people dont need to ask Google for advice or ways to show kindness or maybe people just dont care about each other as much.
What do you think?
I think some people are so self absorbed they don’t think about anyone else but themselves; but are some of the first to complain that no one thought about them.
It’s a 2-way street folks, YOU GET WHAT YOU GIVE!
What does it mean to be humble?
For me it means in part, to Never Forget where you come from.
What I mean is, your past has brought you where you are today and made you who you are; so honor that.
It’s been my experience that when I’ve forgotten my trials and tribulations; the Universe had a way of knocking me off my high horse.
What I am getting at with this post is, remember that everyone is on their own journey. Don’t be so quick to judge, point fingers and make fun of someone.
When you point your finger at someone you have 3 pointing back at you…
Have you listened to Tim McGraws song “Humble and Kind“? Or just read the lyrics…
Tim McGraw “Humble & Kind”
I think most of us has seen the movie or may have heard the term before, but have you actually done it?
Like pay for the person behind you in the drive thru or picked up someone’s check at a restaurant?
Me personally, I like to grab a Law Enforcement Officer’s order or check. I was getting gas and as I was running in to get my own coffee an Officer was right in front of me; I just swiped my card before he could.
How about just using manners? Like saying “Please” “Thank You” or “You’re Welcome”?
What about making someone’s birthday a little special by acknowledging it or giving them a card?
It never hurts to pay attention to people around you; maybe someone is struggling to load their groceries and deal with a toddler or just physically having issues.
I know, this can get tricky at this time of year with all the tricksters out there; but couldn’t you just watch out for someone who isn’t paying attention?
This post turned out with more questions than answers…
What are some of your ideas on how to “pay it forward or random acts of kindness”?
