Lady Rider – Carpal Tunnel Recovery

Good Morning! How was everyone’s weekend/Father’s Day?

We live in Florida and it has been a very wet few weeks. Its officially been a whole month since I had Carpal Tunnel release surgery on my right hand.

You know as a motorcycle rider, that’s a pretty important hand. Those who drive a motorcycle know this, but for my non-rider friends, with your right hand you control the throttle aka the gas and your front brakes.

I have to say, I didn’t expect it to take this long to recover. I am mostly chalking it up to “the older you get, the longer it takes” theory. I am not saying I like it, but I haven’t ridden my bike in 3 months. I’ve been a passenger a few times, but haven’t driven because of various reasons that include carpal tunnel issues and the after effects or recovery from this surgery.

90% of the carpal tunnel issues I was having before is completely gone! Thank Goodness!

I am wearing a compression glove during the day mostly to help with swelling. Once it starts to swell then it gets really sore. I’ve been also using a 3lb weight ball to try and strengthen my hand and to help the scar tissue flatten out.

So I went for a nice easy 40 minute ride down to Harley to buy a new rain suit; I know you get what you pay for but those things are expensive!

My hand was pretty sore after that first leg of the ride which I expected, “No Pain, No Gain”, right? I did have the compression glove on. It felt like I had a rubber ball (the size of the ones you get in a gumball machine, hell I can’t recall seeing those anymore lol) stuffed in my glove all the while working that throttle and brake. I worked through it, because that’s what we do, right?

So we bought the suit and headed back the way we came because the rain clouds were building. We did get wet but not the worst we ever experienced. I took the glove off this time to see if that helped, at first it did but overall, No.

So here we are on the verge of our yearly motorcycle trip and I will not be taking my bike. Poor Aengus is going to have to sit this one out.

Overall, this recovery has been slower than I expected but, it has been a relief without all the other issues from the carpal tunnel.

Stay tuned for my blog posts on this years trip, it’s going to be Epic!

We are going to UpState New York briefly, Boston/Danvers, Washington D.C. and Charlotte, NC in a little more than 2 weeks. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

Camera Clicks – FOTD – Magonlia

Good Morning! I am in Florida and I am not sure there is anything more majestic than a Magnolia Tree.

I noticed about a week ago, one of the small trees at my office had one bud growing. So I stalked it, brought my camera to work so that I could catch it opening.

Finally the day arrived! But to my surprise this blossom was being attended to by Bees!

I have never seen this kind of behavior. The Bees were picking off the little bits from the stamen (I think that is what it’s called, that middle stob thing lol)…check out these pictures, tell me what you think. Have you seen Bees do this before?

Camera Clicks – Rock

Have you ever just picked up a rock for no apparent reason. I personally have a thing for rocks. I have no idea why. I’ve wondered, could it be some ancient impulse that is just hardwired in my DNA? There are plenty of oral traditions that speaks to this; like leaving a rock on a headstone to mark that someone visited…do you have any thoughts on this idea?

Here is one I just picked up and happened to have a few minutes…can you see a face? What else can you see?

Camera Clicks – Lizard

So I’ve lived in Florida most of my life, I’ve seen all manners of Lizards in various conditions…But never like this! I was taking some random pictures and playing around with some of the “manual” settings. When I noticed something strange going on, he or she was molting before my eyes. The interesting thing was, I didn’t notice it until I looked at the pictures I was taking. Cool, huh?

Camera Clicks – Photo Challenge – Eyes

This is my Grand-Dog, his name is Entei (En-Tay), a pokemon reference.

He is half Husky and Half Boxer. Even though is eyes look the same color they reflect differently, we assume it’s because most Huskies have different colored eyes.

He’s a trip! He has pajamas, a raincoat and cold weather booties! He especially loves wearing sweatshirts and sleeping under the covers.

He became a watchful big brother at Easter❣

Hot Off the Hook – May 2019

Hi there Happy Hookers❣️

This particular project has been very near and dear to my heart. It’s a special gift for a special person in my life.

Its been a really long time since I’ve done a personal project. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve done dozens of baby blankies and the like for my grandbabies, niece’s and nephews.

I belong to a crochet group and we do alot of lap blankets, baby hats and any number of items for our local charity groups. We all spend alot of time working our hooks like it’s a job and often times I forget just how much fun it is to crochet.

Until, I started this project…it’s called “A Study of Texture” by Mikey at the Crochet Crowd (Yarnspirations), this guy has magic fingers!

Anyways, what got me about this project was it requires you to slow your roll a bit. Not snail slow but just enough, it made me realize I really needed to smell the roses for a little bit. Needless to say, I highly recommend this project!

Just a little about the yarn. I used Caron jumbo (Shady Lane) and Loops & Threads Endless Impeccable (Butterscotch).

So tomorrow, I’ll send this to one of my most favorite people, and she has no idea it’s coming. 🤞🌼

Camera Clicks – Cee’s FOTD Challenge

So this is a tababuea tree, I also call this a rain tree although I think there is another tree named this. I have a few others that are pink and after 5 years 2 of them finally flowered.

This yellow one was a volunteer from my neighbor. It had a sibling until just before this one sprouted buds. The caveman got to it, I kept telling him it was a “good ” tree and to leave it be lol, he mows everything down!

When it finally sprouted, you’d have thought the President was paying us a visit! I broke out my fancy camera, put my hat on backwards and started clicking!

Now if i can just get my dogs to stop peeing on my Gardenia! [SMH] Anyone have any suggestions on this?
